About the authors
My name is Mike Smith and I am a freelance software consultant working in the Java development field. I generally work on larger projects as part of a team of consultants but I do all sorts of development work. Most of my recent projects have involved writing the ‘behind the scenes’ code for internet-based applications, business-to-business communications and web services.
I am usually found in my office at home with a steady supply of nice hot mugs of tea (decaffeinated - grim but necessary, caffeine makes me feel ill).
Sue is my wife/manager/organiser and makes sure I am where I need to be when I need to be.
Our daughter, Jennifer, was born in 2000 and is absolutely gorgeous.
Our dog is called Katie and is officially the most beautiful dog in Preston - she won a photographic competition!
The cuddly toy is Kipper, eponymous star of one of the most charming childrens’ programmes ever.
